    I LOVE THIS POST

Hi I am coming around for Holiday Gusetbook Signing Day!

I can't do all the fancy stuff others are doing. So maybe this will leave a mark on ur heart!

     Loving Heavenly Father,

Help us remember the birth of Jesus,

that we may share in the song of Angels, the gladness of the shepherds,

and the worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world.

Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clean hearts.

May Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy children, and

Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake.

    In Thy Name We Pray,

    Amen

    Love from Louisville

CANADIAN RESEARCH TEAM DISCOVERS KEY MECHANISM BEHIND NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Microglia cells release a protein that activates pain neurons

    Montreal - December 2005

A Canadian multidisciplinary, multi-institutional research team has discovered a
key mechanism behind neuropathic pain, a finding that could soon lead to better
diagnostics and new kinds of therapeutics. This breakthrough was made possible
with the support of a $1.5-million NeuroScience Canada Brain Repair Program team
grant that enabled five scientists from across Canada to join their labs and
fast-track their research. Two of the members of the grant led the work at the
Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and the Robert-Giffard Research Centre in
    Québec City.

This research will be reported in the December 15, 2005 issue of the journal
    Nature.

Damage to peripheral nerves, after nerve injury or from diseases that affect
peripheral nerve function, can result in neuropathic pain, one of the most
debilitating types of chronic pain. Neuropathic pain can afflict people with
diabetes, cancer, HIV and spinal cord injury. Previous work has shown that a
first step in neuropathic pain depends on the activation of microglia cells, but
scientists have long sought to understand how microglia communicate with pain
neurons that relay information from the spinal cord.

In the December 15th issue of Nature, Dr. Yves De Koninck and Dr. Michael
Salter, and their team, report that upon stimulation, microglia cells release a
protein (called brain-derived neurotrophic factor) that alters the properties of
pain neurons in the spinal cord in such a way that they become activated -
rather than inhibited (as would normally be the case) - by the signaling
    molecule GABA.

Since current pain relieving drugs, such as morphine, act on the actual nerve
cells, they are ineffective in the treatment of neuropathic pain. The findings
reported by Dr. Salter and De Konick indicate that drugs that are capable of
stopping the microglia from injuring nerve cells will be key to treating this
    type of pain.

"This is an important discovery for the millions of Canadians who suffer from
debilitating chronic pain that cannot currently be treated. The cost to society
is equally devastating and is estimated in the billions of dollars annually,"
says the Honourable Michael H. Wilson, Chair of NeuroScience Canada, a national
umbrella organization for neuroscience research, whose Brain Repair Program
helped support this research. "With the work of Drs. Salter and De Koninck, we
can now focus the research on developing drugs that will target the class of
cells responsible for chronic pain. This represents an important shift that
could soon provide patients with effective treatments and allow them to be
    active again in our society."

    * The date and time embargo on information to be released adheres to the
agreement signed by the publisher of the magazine Nature which publishes in
extinso the results of this project Ten million Canadians of all ages will be
affected by a disease, disorder or injury of the brain, spinal cord or nervous
system at some point in their lives. These conditions number more than 1,000 and
include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis,
spinal cord injury, depression, schizophrenia, sense organ diseases, traumatic
brain injury and chronic pain. Based on Health Canada data, the economic burden
of these disorders is conservatively estimated at 14 per cent of the total
burden of disease, or $22.7 billion annually; when disability is included, the
economic burden reaches 38 per cent or more, according to the World Health
Organization. However, despite the magnitude of the problem, neuroscience
research, with just $100 million total in operating grants in C
anada annually, is still greatly under funded in this country.

Founded in 1988, NeuroScience Canada is Canada's umbrella organization and voice
for the neurosciences. Through partnering with the public, private and voluntary
sectors, NeuroScience Canada connects the knowledge and resources available in
this area to accelerate neuroscience research and funding, and maximize the
output of Canada's world-class scientists and researchers.

The mission of NeuroScience Canada's Brain Repair Program is to fast-track
neuroscience research in order to develop treatments and therapies more quickly.
Through the Brain Repair Program, NeuroScience Canada and its donors and
partners have already invested $4.5 million to research teams conducting
breakthrough work in the area of brain repair. NeuroScience Canada's funding
partners on the grant led by Dr. Salter include the Canadian Institutes of
Health Research and the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. The goal of the Brain
Repair Program is to initially fund five teams, for a total investment of $8
    million.

    thank you Lynn

    Christmas In Heaven

    My First Christmas In Heaven

    Author Unknown

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below with tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow. The sight is so spectacular! Please wipe away that tear, for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear, but the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here. I have no words to tell you the joy their voices bring, for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me I see the pain inside your heart, even though I am so far away, we really aren't apart. So, be happy for me, loved ones. You know I hold you dear. Be glad I'm  spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my heavenly home above. I send you each a memory of my undying love. After all, "Love" is the gift more precious than gold. It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other, as my Father said to do, for I can't count the blessings or the love He has for you.

So, have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear! Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

    A Thief

    "Chronic pain"...

     is a thief....

It breaks into your body and robs

    you blind....

With lightning fingers, it can take

    ~*~ THE MASK ~*~

    ~*~ THE MASK ~*~

A mask I wear, most every day..

not a single clue, dose it give away.

Every day, hidden in the dark..

    behind a face, completely stark.

Afraid to let the people see..

    any real part of me

But I've worn this mask for so very long..

and when I take it off, things just go wrong.

I scream for help, but no-one hears..

and no-one seems to see the tears.

For the mask, it seems to hold too well..

and keeps me in my private hell.

Any hope of escape just fade's away..

bit by bit, day by day.

The higher I reach, the further I fall..

as I try to climb over my prison wall.

Still I dream of escape, to one day be free..

for one day, someone to realy see ME.

Callie's GOAL's as a Wearer of MANY HATS

MY GOAL IS TO STOP PEOPLE FROM LOOKING AWAY

and Make a place in this World for

    Letting Positive Voices Be Heard..

    about Me..

    I am a Baby boomer..
May 64' Year and Month of the Dragon, sign of the bull..
Must give me my direction for determination..
My need to find solace in the study of Native American Culture gives me much of my Inner Peace. Can't help being a Positive thinker...
I have always worked with children, now families with children with mental illness, and people with disabilities.

My goal long before this illness ( brain malformation struck me down ) was to open a center for disabled and elderly and children could come and be one with the earth.

Open a community garden... give children a safe place to go, learn fine arts... get their hands dirty... growing food for their home and the community... give people a chance to work with computers... give people a chance to not to be isolated by their disabilities or illnesses OR INCOME and come be together in groups to learn things such as arts and crafts, peer group chats, in a safe environment, SO many people with "Labels" are literally unable to leave their homes or communicate with others because of Lack of transportation.

I was unable to get access to medical care because of the transportation systems LIABILITY ( even on the disabled busses) Because I was alone. I own a car, but my children a too young to drive, I am unable and my father was blind.. no one here could give us a ride...

I had to call Elder abuse at age 41
( because I am disabled I qualify as Elderly) on MYSELF..
but because I was STUCK, not abused they could no NOTHING to help me, that was
the advice my congressman gave me
      THE SYSTEM is Broken people...
    and
starting with Just ONE voice, we CAN make a difference FOR ALL people, not just me but Millions of people Like me.

I have my dream and WILL find a way to make it come true for people around here..

I hope others will care enough to start things like this in their areas too.. Make a difference on town at a time..

    Call you state representatives...
Let them know you are tired of our tax dollars being wasted on tests that go to medical records and Not being used to help the people being Radiated, and not helped...
Medicare pays for it, but they don't follow up to find out what IS and IS NOT being done..

     YOU STILL PAY THE BILLS...
People with disabilities can't even get the help, we all assume are being GIVEN to them , and most do not even know they are supposed to get because NO ONE tells them they SHOULD have!  Then people have to WORK.. they get paid to work for it anyway, but they don’t actually do anything...the Big tax SINK HOLE..

Medicare is only going broke because they spend Millions of dollars on things that are being done but when we report that there is NOTHING being done CORRECTLY, they have no system in place to send the FRAUD reports TOO...
no boss, no working numbers, NOTHING in place to STOP the fraud...
FLUSHING your tax dollars away, and crying to change the system, when the SYSTEM is the one who is wasting our money...

I worked 17 years, 70 + hours a week for my disability money... I would gladly earn a paycheck again, but Dept of Rehab says, "You are UNABLE TO WORK, NOT HIRABLE"... just like millions more like me... Give us a chance, retrain us with these MODERN tech jobs, stop outsourcing, we will take lower paying jobs to EARN our medical and checks...

We have pride and DO NOT want to be shoved in a corner and be told we are UNABLE...

Put us in jobs with hospitals and medical situations where we can use our skills  patients NOT doctors where we can listen to patients.... Help to weed out the ones who just want meds, from those who need Physc help maybe, from those who obviously need drug rehab, to those who have OBVIOUS Home problems and would benefit from having a social worker
HELP THEM OUT WITH THE SYSTEM, and getting them through the HEALTH System of care, Medical ADVOCATES, save the hospitals and Medical systems MILLIONS of dollars and stop making these patients more depressed, putting them on needless medications because they are stuck in the PIT of medicine, and run around, because NO ONE is listening to them...

AND then they DARE to CALL us DEPRESSED and WANT to FOR us onto to MECIACATIONS FOR THAT!

Do not tell me things like that are not needed, or wanted by patients and

WILL NOT save MILLIONS of dollars a YEAR, Billions even...and LIVES because these people give up feeling helpless and hopeless, and worse yet, like everything is IN THEIR heads because NO ONE is reading and putting their tests together and FOLLOWING up on their medical care...

No one but a patient who has been stuck in this situation can understand more.. they do not teach that in Medical school, and you do NOT have to be a doctor to know how that feels...doubt any doctor could..

Tell me again why it is they say WE CANNOT WORK???

Let me hear from you if you have been through things like this and want to join forces ...
I am willing to help anyone who has problems with the systems in their area, if I can..
if I can't I will try and help find someone who can...

Let YOUR voice be heard here too..
