New Information for Spinal Cord Injuries ( SCI )

This is an amazing site of Cumulative Ideas and Treatments

They are from around the world but I know from research that many

are at least being done on Trial basis here in the US also...

If you or someone you love has a SCI, there is no reason NOT to check

     this site out.

    HMO's for the New Year

    Hi My Friends

    {{{{{{ Huggles }}}}}}}

I have missed you one and all...

As I HOPE, most of you all know....

Once again the System is changing on us...

We have until March 31st to LOCK IN an HMO plan for Medicare...

I have been doing much research, and would appreciate feedback from other states...

As you know, there is now a PART D which helps cover medications....

there is a HUGE PROBLEM with many of the reccomended HMO's...

They will often TELL YOU that you are not elligble for their services if you are NOT 65 or older.

    THEY ARE WRONG.

If you are UNDER 65 and Disabled, on Medicare, or what was known as Medi-Medi

These HMO's are available to you as well...

HOWEVER.... if you are on Medi-Medi

what was formally known as the state medical COVERS

ALL or Most of your Co-pays, Out of Pocket Coverage.

What does this mean to you??

In the Case of SCAN  Health Plan , for example...

They Offer More medications on the Covered Fomulary than many others,

They offer additional benifits, like In home health care... ( some for a very reduced fee )

A limited amount of Rides to the Hospital or Doctors ( 6 round trips per year  or 12 one way lol )

Your Doctor has the ability to call the HMO and give a medical reason why a medication LIMIT

    or Exemption may be changed....

    DOWNSIDE(s)

Not all doctors are providers under these new programs,

and Yep.. to get the Full coverage that can meanhaving to start all over
    training new docs...

The Very Best advice is start with your own doctor and ask if they have
recently made contracts with any of the new programs that have come out.

For the Majority of us in this Situation, Money IS a HUGE Object,

and Very Little replaces the Luck you have when finding a doctor

you have a good relationship with...

Doctors Nurses, or Office staff will often know MUCH MORE

about the prgrams they work with and do not...

If You have a doctor that is not worth giving up...

It is in your Best interest to do your homework and find out
    which programs they work with...

and find out among those, which gives you the most coverage...

Things are Only going to get worse with these ongoing changes...

Once you change on of before March 31st 2007, you have to stick with that choice until

Dec 2007, for change in 2008...

Please feel free to leave comments with regards as which plan works best for you in your neck of the woods....
